I have teamed up with some other camera loving gals for a personal project called, "What _____ looks like." Our goal is to capture and document our own families and our own lives in a way that is real. Lifestyle. Unposed. Organic. Just life as it happens. Each month we will fill in the blank with our word(s) of choice and post our images that depict it, and we'll link to the next photographer until the circle is complete.
I'm excited about this project and the opportunity to spend a little of each month focusing on why I fell in love with a camera in the first place... capturing my own family. I hope this project inspires you to capture your own families and take more pictures. It doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. Just take more pictures. Come along with us.

What Spring looks like...
This Spring has been mostly cold and wet around here, with only sporatic days of being able to play outside. But I actually decided it was okay with me, because we're approaching the end of the days that these two will be home so much together and not attending different schools at different times during the day. So here's a little bit of what our Spring has looked like... and a few of the mundane, ordinary moments I'll probably come to miss very soon. Happy Spring!

"I sometimes wake in the early morning and listen to the soft breathing of my child,
and I think to myself, this is one thing I will never regret,
and I carry that quiet with me all day long."

What you might not know by looking at these pictures is that Miss Colbi came to see me during a blizzard. But we laughed in the snow's face and wore Spring (and Summer!) outfits anyway. Isn't she cute?

It's always so fun to see Addison. At her 4 year session we played, talked a mile a minute, hid behind curtains, played basketball, danced, and we even managed to squeeze in a few pictures! It's par for the course with the 4 year crowd. :) Happy birthday, sweet girl!

What a Disney Vacation Looks Like...
We had the best time in Disney World at the end of January. It was the perfect time of year to go.... 75 degrees and minimal crowds and lines. We stayed at the new and totally cool Art of Animation Resort. Each wing is themed with a different Disney movie, and we chose to stay in Lion King suite, since our kids love the Lion King. As far as our park days, we spent our time between the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, riding rides, and meeting characters as fast as we could. To say we have some Toy Story fans on our hands would be an understatement. Our son, especially, has idolized Woody for nearly 2 years, collecting every toy and product ever made, including duplicates of many of them. The moment he came face to face with Woody was the single best moment of his whole little life.
Our kids were both at the perfect ages to be completely swept off their feet by all the magic of Disney. But I admit I was a little bit swept of my feet, too. The magic of Disney is a funny thing. It's as much for the adults as it is for the kids. We so often take our children at such young ages they probably will only remember bits and pieces. But the way her pony tail moved as she danced infront of the castle? The way her eyes fluttered when Buzz was making heart shapes at her, or when the princess asked her to twirl? The way I hauled him across the street to guarantee him a dance with Woody and Jessie, and the way the muscles nearly burst out of his face when he got their autographs? I will carry those memories with me forever.

"She turned to me and whispered, don't you just love it when you get so excited you forget to breath?
And the thought of her smiling eyes still makes me laugh."
