What Hawaiian Vacation Looks Like

July 28, 2012 / (1) Comments / Posted in Personal Project, What _____ Looks Like

I have teamed up with several other camera loving gals for a fun personal project called, "What _____ looks like." Our goal is to capture and document our own families and our own lives in a way that is real. Lifestyle. Unposed. Organic. Just life as it happens. Each month we will fill in the blank with our word(s) of choice and post our images that depict it. We'll each put our own spin on it, making it meaningful to each one of us. In our monthly posts, we will each link to the next photographer until the circle is complete.

I'm excited about this project and the opportunity to spend a little of each month focusing on why I fell in love with a camera in the first place... capturing my own family. I hope this project inspires you to capture your own families and take more pictures. It doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. Just take more pictures. Come along with us.

What Hawaiian vacation looks like...

This past month we spent two weeks visiting family in Oahu, Hawaii... enjoying time with cousins, touring world renowned beaches, site-seeing with our family as our personal tour guides, and living like locals.

And we've spent most of our time since then planning when we will go back..... or purchase a vacation home.... or sell our stuff and move. :)

Here are some of my favorite pictures from our trip.

Also, be sure to check out what Tara with Tara Long Photography was up to this month.

"I'm not that good at being a tourist, because I'm always looking at the way the light shines in your hair, or the way your dress opens to the wind.

And my favorite places in the world are places filled with you.”

R Family Sneak Peek!

July 24, 2012 / (0) Comments / Posted in Babies, Birthdays, Families, First Birthday, Kids, One Year, sneak peek

It's no secret that it's been crazy-hot around here lately. I believe it was 102 degrees as I was shooting this session. HOT. But this family still rocked it... and they rocked it with twins! The little guy and gal just turned one over the weekend. I had so much fun hanging out with them and being part of their "controlled chaos," as they call it. I bet their house is always bustling. Enjoy your sneak peek, R Family, and Happy Birthday to the littles!

Fun C Family

July 15, 2012 / (0) Comments / Posted in Families, Kids, Siblings

The C Family was FUN and cheerful.... and wore outfits to showcase just that! The fun thing about photographing slightly older kids is that they always have some posing and location ideas of their own. :) It's fun to hear what they come up with.

She wanted to sit in just that spot, so the pink flowers would show in the background...

Obviously, this was a pose idea of his own, and, from what I hear from the rest of the family, it's so "him." :)
